Pursue Continuous Quality Improvement in the
Nurse Educator Role
Nurse educators need to recognize that their role is multidimensional and requires an ongoing commitment to develop and maintain competence in the role.
I believe all nursing instructors must role model a commitment to life-long learning. Nursing is a constantly evolving, changing profession and we must change with it. Our knowledge of legal and ethical issues should support the implementation of policies and procedures at our institutions. I believe our combined knowledge will improve our schools and health care organizations more than individual knowledge ever could. We must learn to mentor not only our students but each other. Evaluating feedback from our students, peers and administrations will help each of us improve our role effectiveness.
Nursing has been a life-long passion for me and my goal is to use the knowledge I have gained from years of varied nursing positions and combine it with knowledge from other nursing professionals to better the profession and institution where I am employed. There is power in numbers and the compilation of experience and knowledge in nursing can be astounding. I want to be a part of this.
