Facilitate Learner Development and Socializaton
This competency states nurse educators must recognize their responsibility in helping students develop as nurses and integrate the values and behaviors expected of those that fill that role.
Nursing students are becoming increasingly diverse. This is needed to help care for our diverse population. I will be aware of the vast array of learning styles and needs of my students. They may need my time or different resources to meet their individual learning needs.
I will strive to help my students achieve their personal and professional goals. I feel it is important to show them I am also striving to meet mine. It is important to attempt to meet your goals yet create new ones at the right times. Assisting my students in self and peer evaluations will be an ongoing lesson for me while I attempt to be content with it myself.
It is imperitive educators model the professional behavior needed in the nursing profession. Instructors must believe in lifelong learning, involvement in professional organizations and advocacy for the profession on all levels. We need to be developing new nurses who have a passion for this vocation.

Critique of Jean Watson's Theory of Caring
To provide students with the necessary attributes to achieve their personal goals, I believe the instructor must remember to have a 'caring moment' with them. It is very important to remember this important essence of nursing, which Jean Watson explains so well. This paper critiques Jean Watson's theory of caring which all nursing students should understand.
